Over the years the garage door header has sagged du. Door jambs are susceptible to wood rot due to their exposure to ground level moisture. Tap on the back of it with a hammer to drive the tip in as far as you can. Take out the header by sawing through the center piece.

The best way to fix this problem is to replace the header. Some garage doors are. Stand the other 2x6 on top of the sill plate and slip its upper end underneath the header that spans the garage door opening.
